Bail order for 96 detainees in one day in virtual court : Journalist Rozina to wait till Sunday
A verdict in the virtual hearing of journalist Rozina Islam's bail application in the case filed by the health ministry will be given on Sunday. The judge will give his verdict after reviewing the documents of the case of 'information theft' alleging that the official documents of the coronavirus vaccine were taken on mobile phones without permission.
The hearing was held at the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
Apart from the lawyers of both the parties, Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua, Mashiur Rahman of BLAST and Md. Abdur Rashid Of Law and Arbitration Center also took part in the bail hearing of Rozina Islam in the court.
Meanwhile, in the midst of the lockdown, 96 accused have been granted bail after a virtual hearing and disposal of 2175 petitions in a single day in the lower courts of the country. As a result, a total of 42,726 detainees have been released on bail through virtual hearings in 60,046 cases in 25 working days.
Supreme Court Special Officer Muhammad Saifur Rahman said 2,165 bail applications were disposed of in a virtual hearing in lower courts and tribunals across the country on Wednesday (May 19th) and 98 detainees were granted bail.
In all, a total of 42,726 prisoners have been released through virtual hearings in 60,046 cases in 25 working days. Besides, the number of children released on bail at that time was 569.
